The Association of Caribbean Historians (ACH) is an independent, non-profit, professional organization devoted to the promotion of Caribbean history from a multidisciplinary, pan-Caribbean perspective, and is the primary association for scholarly and public historians working in the field. Initially formed from a 1969 colloquium under the leadership of Francophone scholar Jacques Adelaide, the ACH held its first annual conference in 1972. Since then, the organization has grown to several hundred members around the globe.

Its principal activity is an annual conference, which is alternately hosted by an English, Spanish, French, or Dutch-speaking Caribbean nation. To encourage intellectual exchange, all attendees attend each conference session and all papers and discussion sessions are simultaneously translated in English, Spanish and French.

The ACH membership includes students, graduate students, faculty, staff of public and government institutions, and independent or retired researchers. While it began under the auspices of history, it now frequently hosts papers and panels on Caribbean literature, art, theatre, archeology, material culture, and identity.

ACH members have played leading roles in the Caribbean, most notably in public service and in academia. These include current and past service as leaders of government, national, regional, and international organizations. Many current members serve in senior positions at Caribbean, North American, and European universities. We hope you will join us.

The French Colonial Historical Society encourages interest in the scholarly study of all French colonizing activity and in the history of all French colonies. It provides its members with various channels, including newsletters, annual meetings, a web site [www.frenchcolonial.org], and French Colonial History, a refereed journal published by Michigan State University Press. The Society awards the Heggoy and Boucher Prizes annually for outstanding books on French colonial history, and it presents the Eccles Prize to the best paper by a graduate student delivered at an FCHS conference and subsequently submitted for publication by the Society.

L’Institut des mondes africains (IMAF) est une unité mixte de recherche interdisciplinaire (histoire ancienne et contemporaine, anthropologie, science politique, archéologie) dont les travaux portent sur l’ensemble du continent africain. Il a été créé au 1er janvier 2014, par la fusion de trois laboratoires : le Centre d’études des mondes africains (CEMAf), le Centre d’études africaines (CEAf) et le Centre d’histoire sociale de l’islam méditerranéen (CHSIM).

L’histoire de la décolonisation au Viêt-Nam, Laos et Cambodge a le plus souvent été présentée sous l’angle des littératures officielles marquées par le prisme des vainqueurs. L’objectif de ce carnet de recherche est d’inverser la tendance générale des histoires officielles pour se plonger dans les récits de vie, témoignages et mémoires des acteurs, de réfléchir sur leur contenu explicite ou implicite, de poser un regard critique sur ces écrits, de réintroduire ces sources « marginales » de l’histoire dans la « grande histoire » de ces pays. Le carnet de recherche « Mémoires d’Indochine » est destiné aux étudiants du séminaire ASIOC (ENS de Lyon / IEP de Lyon) et aux chercheurs. Il leur offre un espace de discussion et d’échanges sur les contenus, les sources et l’état de la recherche sur ces sujets.

Le Réseau Asie, créé le 18 juin 2001 par le Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), la Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (MSH), la Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (FNSP) et l’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), a pour objectif de relier les nombreux enseignants, chercheurs et enseignants-chercheurs français qui consacrent leurs travaux à l’Asie.
